Italian Cookies

6 cups flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk (enough to make dough workable)
14 tsp. shortening
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Sift dry ingredients together, add shortening, then eggs. Mix after each addition. Add milk w/ vanilla until dough is workable. Divide dough into arts. One part for plain (or frosted) cookies, one part for almond cookies (add chopped almonds and 2 tsp anise extract), and one part for round chocolate cookies (add chocolate, walnuts, cinnamon and cloves). Bake at 350 until done.
