Cinnamon Buns
2 cakes yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1 cup lukewarm water
1 cup milk, scalded and cooled
7 cups flour
6 tbsp butter
1/2 cup sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp salt
Dissolve yeast and 1 tbsp sugar in lukewarm water. Add milk and
3 cups flour, beat until smooth. Cream butter and sugar, add to
yeast mixture. Add eggs, salt and remaining flour to make a soft
dough. Turn out on a floured board and knead lightly. Place in
greased bowl, cover and let rise in warm place about 2 hours.
Roll out dough to ¼" thick. Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle
with brown sugar, raisins and cinnamon. Roll up lengthwise.
For bread:
Cut into pieces about 2" long. Place close together with cut
sides up on well greased loaf pan. Cover, let rise 1 hour. Bake
at 350 for 60 minutes.
For buns:
Cut into smaller pieces and place cut side up into well greased
shallow pan. Let rise. Bake at 425 for 20 minutes. Add glaze.
Glaze:
Powdered sugar
Vanilla
Milk
Heat milk. Mix powdered sugar, vanilla and hot milk until glaze
reaches desired consistency. Pour over buns.
