Apple Pull-Aparts
3-4 cups flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 package rapid rising yeast
1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
1 cup milk
1 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
Golden apple filling:
1 cup peeled, chopped apples
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Combine 1 cup flour, sugar, yeast and salt. Heat milk and 2 tbsp butter to 120 F.
Add egg and blend. Add milk mixture to flour mixture and beat until smooth. Add
only enough of remaining flour to make soft dough. Knead until smooth and satiny.
Cover and let rest 20 minutes. Divide dough into 32 pieces, flatten each piece in
palm of hand and fill with approximately 1/2 tsp golden apple filling. Pinch edges
together, roll to form ball. Melt remaining butter, dip balls in butter. Arrange
16 filled balls in well-greased 10" tube pan so they just touch in single balls,
sprinkle with 1/2 of remaining apple filling. Add remaining balls, sprinkle remaining
apple filling over top. Cover, let rise 20-30 minutes. Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes
or until golden. Cool 10 minutes. Invert onto serving plate. Makes 10 servings.
